Citizens can now choose their desired residential land online. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has given the applicants an option to indicate their choice of land.

Completely digital and geographically mapped, Omani nationals awaiting their turn to receive land can log on to the service online after receiving a notification from the Ministry. Accordingly, eligible citizen has the right to three attempts and five days to finish choosing the land.

“The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has launched the service ‘Choose Your Land, a new mechanism for granting government residential lands to the citizens which is the platform to express your choices,” said Ahmed bin Saud al Kamyani, Director General of Lands at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.

All the citizens who are allotted lands will be receiving text messages to enter the system through the “Choose Your Land” service and start the electronic selection process, and the list of recipients will be published later, he said.

There Council of Ministers has instructed the Ministry to distribute 23,000 residential lands as part of the ministry’s plan for 2022 in the country to the applicants this year and they will be distributed through the Choose Your Land service.

This distribution will be based on specific criteria represented in the social status, age, date of submission of the application and the status of housing represented in the absence of a house or land suitable for housing, and the highest priority will be for families who do not own housing or land. The largest number of applicants, 123,000 citizens, preferred Muscat Governorate which has a serious shortage of land. On the other hand, the ministry aims to distribute 3,000 land plots in the governorate. Al Kamyani further said that the names of the target group in the first batch will be announced through social media on Monday.
