Muscat: Duqm Port and Hyport Duqm projects reflect the strategic partnership between Oman and Belgium and are linked to the sectors targeted in the 10th Five Year Plan, in particular the transportation and logistics sector and renewable energy sectors.

The Hyport Project (a partnership between OQ and Deme Company of Belgium) will mainly produce a green hydrogen area spread over 150 sq km.

It is expected to produce 1.3 gigawatts of wind and solar energy in the first phase to reach 59,000 metric tons of hydrogen per year

A German company has signed a contract to purchase the first production of hydrogen and market it in the German market.

A partnership between Asyad and the Port of Antwerp (Port of Duqm) is a key opportunity for stimulating the contribution of the logistics sector to the GDP, which was set at 7.5 percent by the end of the tenth five-year plan.

This partnership will contribute to stimulating the shift towards alternative energy sources, in a way that enhances the sustainability of ecosystems and the renewal of their resources, achieving social welfare, and relieving pressures on financial management.

This partnership, which includes eight strategic programs from the 10th Five-Year Development Plan (2021-2025), is expected to contribute to achieving the objective of attracting foreign direct investment in the oil and non-oil sectors to 10.9% of GDP by the end of the plan.

Supporting the parallel national efforts within the framework of the 10th Five-Year Development Plan with regards to increasing the contribution of clean and renewable energy to economic activity.

The Kingdom of Belgium has a diversified economy and is one of the fastest growing export bases in the world with more than 299 export partners.

The #Omani #Belgian partnership in logistics and renewable energy opens new prospects and supports both countries' national economies.
