Interior minister, Saudi counterpart tour Empty Quarter Checkpoint

Muscat: Sayyid Hamoud Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior and Prince Abdulaziz Saud al Saud, Minister of Interior in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on Monday went on tour of the Empty Quarter border checkpoint, which connects Oman and the KSA.


During their tour, the commemorative plaque was unveiled. The two ministers inspected the work progress and services provided in the checkpoint.


The checkpoint, which was opened on December 7, 2021, is considered a bridge that deepens relations and enhances social communication. It will also boost shipping and the movement of goods, resulting in the increase of trade exchange between the two countries. Moreover, it will support activities in various economic, tourism and investment sectors.


On the sidelines of the visit, the two ministers reviewed the bilateral relations and exchanged views on cooperation-related areas. They also discussed several matters of common interest to enhance the march of relations between the two countries.


Several officials from both sides were present during the visit, including the Inspector General of Police and Customs, the Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technology and the ambassadors of the two countries. --ONA
