The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has extended the deadline for allowing “empty” foreign vehicles to enter the territory of the Sultanate of Oman until the end of March 2022.

The decisions will help owners of these companies to correct their status.

The Omani Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) had earlier announced that the number of permits issued to empty foreign land transport vehicles will be stopped from October 2021.

The decision was aimed at supporting the local transporters and boosting investment in the land transport sector in the Sultanate as per Vision 2040.

The decision also bans foreign land transport vehicles and their crew to stay in the country for more than seven days without authorisation from MTCIT and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
