MUSCAT: Omran Group celebrated on Thursday the official inauguration of the iconic dusitD2 Naseem Resort Jabal Akhdar — a new destination that further entrenches the Sultanate of Oman’s position on the global leisure tourism map.
The inaugural event was held under the auspices of Dr Khamis bin Saif al Jabri, Chairman of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit. Also present were a number of key government officials and senior leaders from the sector.
Built with an investment of RO 24 million, dusitd2 Naseem Resort is another milestone that reflects Omran’s endeavours to expand its rich portfolio of hospitality assets and tourism destinations. Located in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, dusitD2 Naseem Resort offers over 250 rooms and features breath-taking views of the surrounding Al Hajar mountain range. One of the most unique offerings at dusitD2 is the Sultanate of Oman’s first 8,000 sqm Adventure Park. The resort offers an extensive range of hotel facilities and activities inspired by the natural characteristics of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, making it ideal for both adrenaline-seekers and leisure travellers.
Commenting on the inauguration of the project, Dr Khamis al Jabri said: “This project will play an instrumental role in supporting the efforts of achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 under the Economy and Development pillar, targeting two national priorities: Economic Diversification and Fiscal Sustainability, and The Private Sector, Investment, and International Cooperation. Additionally, it supports the Environment and Natural Resources priority under Environment Sustainability pillar.”
“The resort sets a benchmark for tourism development through the proper utilisation of natural resources to achieve long-term goals, support economic diversification efforts, boost the direct and indirect contribution of the tourism sector to the GDP, and generate direct employment opportunities for the national workforce,” Dr Al Jabri further stated.
Aligning itself with Oman Vision 2040 and the National Tourism Strategy to support the national economy, the project resonates with Omran Group’s mandate of developing the domestic tourism sector through the creation of sustainable tourism projects.
Hashil bin Obaid al Mahrouqi, CEO of Omran Group, said, “The debut of dusitD2 Naseem Resort, which is the second hotel owned and developed by Omran Group in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar after Alila Jabal Akhdar will meet the rising popularity of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate and Al Jabal Al Akhdhar in particular. The resort will introduce a new concept for leisure and relaxation through new tourism experiences. It will also support the government’s effort towards making the Sultanate of Oman a remarkable tourism destination.”
“Since the commencement of construction works, the group ensured that the project’s inputs in the form of goods and services were sourced locally to boost domestic expenditure and contribute to socio-economic growth. We have witnessed a number of success stories as a result of our partnership with SMEs. This collaboration has enabled local producers, tour operators, adventure instructors and local experience guides to capitalise on numerous opportunities generated by the project. Through this endeavour, we have reiterated Omran Group’s commitment towards providing local companies and suppliers with an impetus to benefit from the rich resources of Al Jabal al Akhdhar. This will in turn have a positive socio-economic impact on the entire region,” Al Mahrouqi further added.
As a leading partner of the Sultanate of Oman in developing and growing this pivotal sector, Omran Group takes concerted efforts to map suitable partnership opportunities.
The group not only adds assets to the country’s hospitality and hotels portfolio, but also drives the planned development of vibrant tourism destinations. This strategic approach has led to the creation of a thriving SME ecosystem in the vicinity of such ventures, generating In-Country Value and thereby positively impacting socio-economic development.
In line with its effort to boost In-Country Value, the group signed a number of collaboration agreements with SMEs on the sidelines of the event. Under the first agreement, the group will join hands with Al Fawah Specialty Perfumes Company to establish Al Fawah booth, which will display rose water, aromatic water and other similar products extracted from the natural resources of the mountain.
The second signed agreement is with the Silver Comfort Company to establish a Scientific Centre for Adventures in the resort.
As per the agreement, the company will provide exploration activities, promote tourism and archaeological sites in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar and develop Khaslat Hail Al Diyar cave. Furthermore, it will deliver the ‘Flora
Fauna’ project, which will
provide unique experiences including tours to farms, orchards and aflaj, as well as activities to explore wildlife and harvest seasonal fruits. Moreover, it will develop trails for adventure activities and exploration of geological areas.
Suphajee Suthumpun, Group CEO, Dusit International, said: “We are delighted to make our Oman debut with this vibrant resort which showcases the heritage, culture, and visual splendour of the destination in a truly distinctive fashion. Given the rising popularity of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar as a tourist destination, dusitD2 Naseem Resort will harness the potential of this scenic area offering guests an amalgamation of leisure, entertainment and adventure.”
dusitD2 Naseem Resort is one of the assets transferred by Oman Investment Authority to Omran Group.
This approach emanates from the Authority’s belief regarding the instrumental role of Omran in developing promising tourism destinations. It also aims to boost the efficiency of these investments by having them under a unified management.
With its mid-and long-term business plans strategically aligned to the National Tourism Strategy 2040, Omran Group has played a key role in the socio-economic progress of the country while spearheading numerous innovative projects to drive investments into the country and transform the tourism landscape in the Sultanate of Oman.
