Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development and Oman Liquefied Natural Gas (Oman LNG) on Thursday signed an agreement to the tune of RO 4 million to carry out three initiatives within the context of the Ministry’s mission to promote social responsibility and consolidate partnerships to serve this goal.

The agreement was signed by Dr Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, and Hamad Mohammed al Naumani, CEO of Oman LNG.

The initiatives are closely linked to services and facilities serving disabled children in different parts of the Sultanate of Oman. The programmes cover nine rehabilitation programmes undertaken in cooperation with a broad cross-section of government and private entities. They aim at enabling the children to live independently and contribute effectively to social life. Towards this objective, the ministry has developed quality service programmes benefiting the disabled in partnership with Oman LNG.

The first initiative deals with upgrading the capabilities of more than 250 national human resources serving children with disabilities.

The second initiative lends support to electronic programmes and platforms specialized in the rehabilitation of disabled children and accommodating them in public education institutions.

The third initiative is aimed at developing the facilities of disabled children’s rehabilitation centres with a view to upgrading the quality of services offered to this segment of society. --ONA
