Agriculture ministry participates in meeting on Olive quick decline syndrome

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources took part in the high level regional online meeting on Olive quick decline syndrome (OQDS).


The ministry’s delegation was chaired by Dr Ahmed Nasser al Bakri, Undersecretary for Agriculture.


The meeting saw the participation of several ministers and undersecretaries of agriculture from a number of Arab countries, as well as officials and experts from different parts of the world.


Olive quick decline syndrome (OQDS) is caused by a bacteria named “Xylella fastidiosa” which infects various types of grapes, olives and citrus plants, causing economic loses to farmers in times of its spread. --ONA
