MUSCAT: Star-studded Muscat CT showed their batting prowess in a 96-run drubbing of Majees CT when four of their top five batters struck sizzling fifties in a 50-over Premier Division League match at Oman Cricket Turf 1 in Amerat on Saturday.
Shoaib Khan (75), Jatinder Singh (72), Kashyapkumar Prajapati (69) and Sandeep Goud (51) all batted brilliantly as Muscat posted an impressive 325 for 5 on the board. Amanpreet Singh took 2 for 49.
Majees struggled to stay on course despite a superb 112 by Ravindra K’Ratne before being dismissed for 229 in the 45th over. Chonira Aiyappa, Ganesh Chandrashekher and Samay Shrivastava all claimed two wickets each.
Waqas helps Al Jadidi win
Splendid 57 by Muhammed Waqas and Shaheer Najeeb’s 3 for 13 were the highlights of Al Jadidi Stars’ comfortable 7-wicket win over Ernst and Young in a T20 game of A Division League at OC Turf 2 on Saturday.
Ernst and Young failed to prosper, getting bowled out for 112 due to brilliant bowling by Shaheer, Ali Muhammed (3 for 21) and Aneermon (2 for 18).
Al Jadidi raced to the target in 16.2 overs, scoring 116 for 3 thanks to top knock by Waqas. Alkesh Joshi picked up 2 for 23.
Akbar steers Ideal to big victory
Akbar Shaikh’s magnificent 97 and Ruban Durai’s 4 for 7 powered Ideal International to a massive 180-run victory against OCT Al Amerat in a C Division T20 clash at Muscat Municipality ground 2 on Friday.
Ideal’s huge 253 for 2 included top scores of 97 from Akbar, 53 by Salman Khan, 41 by Wasim Jamadar and 39 from Ruban Durai. Anaya Allah bagged 2 for 38.
No batter from OCT Amerat could stay on to fight except Sulaiman Haider who struck 33 as the whole side was restricted to 73 for 7 in 20 overs.Apart from Ruban’s destructive spell, Sachin Mamnani bowled exceptionally well, taking 3 for 8.
Rahul lifts Vanderlande
In another C Division match at Muscat Municipality ground 1, Vanderlande rode on a superb 54 by its star performer Rahul Chadha and 3 for 24 by Haja Hussain to defeat Design Group Engineering Consultants by 30 runs.
Vanderlande’s 205 for 6 included topscores of 54 by Rahul and 37 by Barathwaj Vinayagam. Amir Mohammed and Satham Hussain took two wickets each.
Design Group fought well but fell short by 30 runs, scoring 175 for 7 in 20 overs. Parvez Beg (52) and Muhammed Althaf (45) were its main scorers. Haja Hussain and Vignesh Kumar claimed three and two wickets respectively.
