Muscat: A sunny Saturday in Muscat turned windy and cold by evening. Under the influence of the upper trough due to the low pressure, Governorate of Musandam received rains with North Al Batinah getting light rain, according to the meteorologist at the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Centre.

According to him, ‘Light rains in Musandam will continue to early Sunday morning and up to Monday.’

Speaking to the Observer he said, “There is expectation of advection of medium and high clouds for North Al Batinah and Al Buraimi governorates.”

The temperature is expected to dip.

Currently, the wind experienced is southeasterly, but once the trough passes by the temperature is expected to cool down.

“After the trough the wind directly will change to northwesterly bringing down the temperature,” said the meteorologist.

In many wilayats the temperature had gone down to 12 degrees Celsius namely Qarn Alam — 12.0 degrees Celsius, Joba — 11.9 degrees Celsius, Muqshin — 11.7 degrees Celsius, Haima — 11.1 degrees Celsius and the lowest was recorded in Saiq — 4.7 degrees Celsius.

The cloudy to partly cloudy skies over Musandam Governorate with chances of rain occasionally thundershowers is also expected to be associated with fresh downdraft wind with advection of clouds over Al Buraimi and part of Oman Sea Coast with chance of isolated rain. Over the rest of the Sultanate of Oman, the chances of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog patches are expected to continue over parts of Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates.
