

MUSCAT: In compliance with the Royal attention accorded by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, and in line with the priorities of taking care of Omani human resources as part of Oman Vision 2040, the Directorate-General of Training at the Ministry of Labour had diligently sought to develop human resources at the units of the state’s administrative apparatuses in 2021.
The ministry’s efforts came within the framework of the specialisations assigned to it as per the Royal Decree 89/2020 related to following up the implementation of the fundamentals and standards for identifying the training requirements at the state’s administrative apparatuses and the other public legal entities in accordance with the work and objectives of each unit and linking these standards to the development plans of the Sultanate of Oman.
Accordingly, the department of training and qualification was keen to activate these competencies towards human resource development in the government units through its efforts to provide qualitative training for civil state employees.
In 2021, a number of training programmes and workshops were held through the now-defunct Institute of Public Administration. A total of 53 male and female employees benefited from training programmes funded by oil firms. In addition, 156 employees from government units participated in a number of free-of-charge online training workshops conducted in cooperation with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) within the experience programme for 2021.
On the other side, 5 online training programmes were implemented in cooperation with the Higher Judicial Institute in which 148 employees took part.
In terms of activating partnerships with leading local and international institutions in the field of training and benefiting from their programmes, cooperation has been made with a number of institutions.
Fifty employees took part in the second Arab conference of civil service bodies held by the Civil Service Bureau in Jordan under the theme “Towards flexible and creative strategies for managing the human resources in the civil service amid the coronavirus pandemic”.
Thirty employees took part in the Future Skills and Human Resources Management Conference organised by the Arab Research Bureau and the Oman International Trade and Exhibitions.
As many as 110 employees took part in the seventh annual conference for customer service entitled the “experience of customers in the light of digital development” organised by Al Asail Conferences.
With regard to training grants, a number 90 male and female employees in the government sector benefited from training grants offered by brotherly and friendly countries.
The Ministry of Labour works in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to benefit from these grants in human resources development. The ministry distributes those grants to different units of the state’s administrative apparatus according to the specialisation of each entity.
