The meeting was held under the auspices of Dr Laila Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, chairperson of the committee.

The National Committee for Family Affairs, established under Royal Decree No 12/2007, specializes in drafting policies and programmes on family welfare. It is tasked with coordinating with official authorities and voluntary organisations and encouraging research in family matters.
