Muscat: The Environment Authority and Al Roya Newspaper on Monday launched the website and logo of the Oman Forum for Environment Sustainability, which will kick off in its first edition in 2023.

The forum will be an Omani international platform that enriches research and dialogue on persevering the environment and ensuring its sustainability.

The launching ceremony came in the 5th Oman Environment Forum, themed “the vital safety of our atmosphere” which coincides with the celebration of Oman Environment Day.

The opening ceremony of the forum was held under the auspices of Dr Saud Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

Al Habsi said that this event discusses the effects of air pollution and climate change on the environment. This topic, Al Habsi affirmed, requires collective efforts, as well as cooperation and the exchange of expertise on local and regional levels.

A workshop was held on the sidelines of the forum, covering the topic of the GCC and WHO dust-related air quality standards.

Moreover, establishments and individuals who contributed in preserving the environment were awarded in the forum. --ONA
