Muscat: The effects of Al-Azm air trough begins today, Thursday, and will continue until the day after tomorrow, Saturday. According to Oman Meteorology Office (Oman Met), the peak of the trough is predicted to bring isolated thunderstorms over the northern governorates of the Sultanate of Oman


It is likely that its effects will extend to the governorates of South and North Al Sharqiyah over the coming time.


In a statement to Oman News Agency, Younis bin Hussein Al-Shezawi, a meteorologist at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), explained that some stations are expected to record amounts of rain ranging from 50 to 100 mm during the next 24 hours, and the rain will be accompanied by active downward winds that may cause the flying of unstable objects.


“The trough is expected to weaken during Sunday with the continuation of scattered rain on the eastern and western parts of Al Hajr Mountains. It will resume its impact over the northern governorates of the Sultanate of Oman from Monday evening to Wednesday evening.
