Visa awards BankDhofar, Thawani for launch of first digital Visa card

BankDhofar and Thawani have recently been awarded by Visa, in recognition of the Thawani Mojab Visa card which was launched earlier this year, the First Digital Visa Card of its kind in the Sultanate.


The highly secure Mojab card is connected to Thawani’s virtual wallet and it does not include any bank-related information like card number or CVV code or expiry date. This enables the consumers to perform their payment transactions at ease and with the highest safety measures.


The award was presented to BankDhofar and Thawani at BankDhofar's head office and was received on behalf of BankDhfoar by CEO Abdul Hakeem Omar al Ojaili, in the presence of official representatives from BankDhofar and Thawani.


Commenting on the recognition, Abdul Hakeem Omar al Ojaili, Chief Executive Officer at BankDhofar said: "We have always been at the forefront in providing state-of-the-art services and cutting-edge financial solutions. The Mojab Visa Card is one of the successful initiatives that has been jointly developed to provide a new payment concept for customers. Pre the launch of the card, Thawani Technologies was licensed by the Central Bank of Oman as a payment solutions provider. With this collaboration, BankDhofar provides the payment infrastructure along with the expertise. The Visa card has recieved positive responses by consumers, as it is redefining digital payments in the Sultanate. Consumers may apply for the card easily from Thawani Mojab App and enjoy swift and safe payment transactions.
