Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning said that a project undertaken by its departments to set up 250 housing units in the Wilayat of Al Mazyouna has been completed.

The project, which cost RO 7 million, will provide suitable accommodations for Omanis, the Ministry said, noting that the project occupies a total area of 645,000 sqm, with each land plot accorded 1,000 sqm. A unit’s constructed area stands at 190 sqm.

The Ministry added that the project adds to 590 residential units set up earlier in Al Mazyouna over the past period, along with 7 mosques, one public hall and 67 housing units set up under the scheme of Residential Housing Assistance and Loans.

During this year, a total of 553 residential housing units in different wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman were distributed, of them 81 in Saham, 96 in Shinas, 68 in Al Suwaiq, 3 in Suhar, 29 in Al Khabourah (North Al Batinah), 7 units in Al Musanaa, one unit in Barka (South Al Batinah), and 45 units in Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan (North Al Sharqiyah), the Ministry explained.

Between 1973 and 2020, the Ministry built 15,000 housing units for eligible citizens (low-income and Social Security Scheme segments) to the tune of RO 340 million. --ONA
