Oxy Mountain Run in Rustaq kicks off Friday

Muscat: The Oxy Mountain Run in Wadi Bani Awf, the Wilayat of Al Rustaq, will kick off on Friday December 24, 2021 with 1,000 participants from all over the world.


The race will start in front of Wadi Bani Awf School towards the dirt road of Wadi Bani Awf. The participants will go through a mountain track and then return to the starting point to complete the 50-km race.


The race is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, in cooperation with Occidental Oman.


The Ministry aims to organize such races in each governorate of the Sultanate of Oman to utilize the geographical diversity of each governorate for those wishing to participate. The Sultanate of Oman is among the best countries in the world in terms of environmental and terrain diversity.


The race is considered a long run marathon, which is among extreme sports of endurance for long distances that range between 50 to 200 km, and sometimes extending to 250 km. Such marathons can be continuous or divided into stop points. The races test the participants’ endurance, vitality, as well as physical and mental fitness. --ONA
