Holders Sidab will clash with Sohar in HM Cup

The finals rounds of the 51st edition of the His Majesty’s Cup Hockey Championship will begin on Thursday with three crucial matches at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.


Saham will take on Salalah and the match will begin at 4:00 pm. Title holders, Ahli Sidab will face Sohar and the fixture will start at 6:00 pm. Seeb and Al Nasr will play in the concluding encounter which will kick off at 8:00 pm. All the finals round games will be held in Bousher.


The draw of the final rounds took place on Tuesday after the completion of Saham and Dhofar match which ended in favour of the former 6-1 in Seeb club. Six clubs including Al Nasr, Salalah, Ahli Sidab, Sohar, Seeb and Saham advanced to the finals round.


The chairman of Oman Hockey Association (OHA), Dr. Marwan al Juma and Dr. Khamis al Rahbi, the Secretary General attended the draw ceremony in presence of OHA officials and sponsors representatives.


The matches of final rounds will end on December 19. The matches will be played in the league system. The top four teams in the table will move to the semis. The winners in the semifinal will secure spots in the final match which will be held in January.


The initial group matches of the oldest sporting championship in the Sultanate of Oman began earlier in November. As many as 12 teams confirmed their presence in the 51st edition of His Majesty’s Cup Hockey Championship. The teams have been divided into two groups. Title holders, Ahli Sidab, were in group B which featured Al Bashaer, Qurayat, Saham, Al Seeb, Suhar and Al Salam while group A comprised Dhofar Governorate clubs including Al Nasr, Dhofar, Salalah, Al Ittihad and Mirbat.
