The recent visit of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to the Sultanate of Oman carries huge bilateral, regional, and international importance. It serves the interests of the two brotherly nations as well as opens up more horizons for development in the interests of the people living on both sides of the borders.

The two countries have recently shown keen interests in cooperation in economic, social and political areas to bring quality in their relations. These parlays are efforts to make these dreams a tangible reality which will ultimately benefit the common people of the two countries. There are already many bonds which cannot separate these two neighbors. They have joint interest in the present and in future and share common history. Their relations cannot be measured in mere facts, figures, and statistics. It is in the spirit on both sides.

These are the basic elements of the relations which were rightly highlighted when His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq visited Saudi Arabia and met King Salman bin Abdulaziz in July. This was the moment when the brotherly nations started evaluation of the developments at bilateral, regional and international fronts to embark jointly on a mission which can ensure a brighter and more prosperous future for the people on the two sides.

There is no doubt that the visit of Prince Mohammed bin Salman has added a special character to the recent parleys between the Kingdom and the Sultanate of Oman. During the last few months, there were frequent visits of economic and business delegations on both sides. It showed the enthusiasm to grab the opportunity opened by the meeting between His Majesty the Sultan and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The visit of the Saudi crown prince is going to give it further boost. The warm welcome extended to him by his Omani hosts shows the seriousness in the aspirations and determination to take the relationship to a higher level.

Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman coming to Oman made the doors of cooperation between his country and the Sultanate of Oman open wider. His visit and the warm welcome he got were a deliberate effort to generate more mutual interests and increase the pace of joint business, bilateral trade, investments in various types of sectors. The Sultanate of Oman is strategically located on the Arabia Sea and the Indian Ocean. It is the Strait of Hormuz through which massive Saudi oil tankers move to reach the rest of the world.
