From his iconic leather mittens to his furniture and small bowls with the image of his cat Choupette: accessories that belonged to fashion tsar Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019, are going under the hammer.
According to auction house Sotheby's, the more than 1,000 items willbe sold in several auctions in Paris, Cologne and Monaco, where the first 443 are expected to change hands by Sunday.
Among the highlights of the three-day auction in Monte Carlo thatends on Sunday are a portrait of the star designer by Takashi Murakami, estimated to be worth between 80,000 and 120,000 euros(90,500-135,700 dollars), a Rolls Royce Phantom and a "Balloon Venus"bottle packaging designed by US artist Jeff Koons for the famous Dom Perignon champagne brand.
The furniture, artworks, clothing and accessories were taken from Lagerfeld's various residences including his home in Millefiori in Monaco and Louveciennes Castle in France.
In Paris, the continuation of the auction "Karl Lagerfeld's Estate"is scheduled to take place on December 14 and on December 15 in Cologne. — dpa
