NIZWA, NOV 23 -

Coinciding with the 51st National Day celebrations, Nizwa Castle (Al Shahba) conducted many activities and events on Friday and Saturday.

While the castle opened its doors to all, inviting them to celebrate the great occasion, the events took place from 8 am to 10 pm.

The activities began with the Omani folk art Razha being performed in the front yard, and it was followed by the Quranic episode, then the Hawl Hawl (way to celebrate birthday) and competitions for children. The rooms of the castle contained a gallery of pictures from different photographers.

Omani families got an avenue to sell their products which were displayed in various corners of the castle.

Artisans’ tents included pottery, carpentry, palm fronds, Omani bread making, spinning, sewing of clothes, cosmetics making, henna painting and textile products.

The castle garden was the venue for horse riding, camel riding, the traditional irrigation method, the Bedouin tent and Omani halwa making.
