Muscat: The French Institute for Obstetrics and Pediatric medicine in Afghanistan won first place in "The Sultanate of Oman Prize for Hospitals Operating During Crises”, while Midland Hospital of Zambia bagged the second prize.
The third prize went to Apolo Hospital of India. The prizes were awarded during the 44th conference of hospitals held in Barcelona, Spain. Dr Qasim Ahmed al Salmi, member of the Board of Trustees of the International Hospital Federation (IHF), told Oman News Agency (ONA) that 23 institutions were short-listed for the top three positions in the Omani prize which, he said, was unveiled during the 42nd conference of the IHF in Muscat in 2019.
Due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the 2020 round of the IHF was postponed, said al Salmi, noting that the prize has been handed over to the winners for the first time in its history this year. --ONA
