Doha: The trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar has made great progress in recent years, reaching more than 6.8 billion Qatari riyals in 2019.
The economic cooperation between Qatar and Oman also witnessed remarkable growth in the sectors of agriculture, livestock, transportation, communications, energy, tourism, education, construction and banking services, in addition, to a number of joint projects in the fields of agriculture and the building materials industry with investments, estimated to be two billion Qatari riyals.
"The number of joint Qatari-Omani companies operating in the Qatari market is estimated at more than 350, operating in a variety of sectors, including services, energy, industry and others. Most of the Qatari investments in the Sultanate are divided into stakes, alliances and partnerships into more than 200 Omani companies, in different sectors," the Qatar News Agency said in a report on the eve of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik's two-day state visit to the State of Qatar.
During the visit, both sides are scheduled to discuss ways to support and strengthen the well-established relations and the prospects for their development, in order to achieve the interests and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples, in addition to discussing the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.
"Qatar, as the Emir, the government and the people, places the Sultanate of Oman, its leadership and its brotherly people in a lofty position and a high place in the souls, due to the distinguished relations, historical ties and mutual fraternal positions between the two countries, which are getting stronger and stronger over the years and years," the report said.
The mutual visits between Doha and Muscat, which culminated in visits between the leaders of the two countries and visits by senior officials and delegations from both sides, have contributed to strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between the two countries and pushing the cooperation between them forward at an increasing pace, the report said.
The two countries are linked by a set of agreements and memoranda of understanding on cooperation in the economic, commercial, cultural, diplomatic, scientific and tourism fields, as well as the Omani-Qatari Joint Committee, which has so far held 20 meetings since its inception and the Qatari-Omani Businessmen Council, which convenes periodically. The mutual trade fairs have made the relations between Doha and Muscat a model for what should be the relations between brothers.
