Oman Open badminton championship concludes

Muscat: The finals of the Modern Exchange — ISC Oman Open badminton championship concluded in style at the ISC courts on 13th November 2021.


The chief official Mathew Thomas, Jt Facility Enhancement Secretary, along with Faigee and Sanjit, Jt Sport Secretary, took all initiatives to conduct the event in a systematic and professional touch. The tournament saw participants from Suhar, Sur and Barka in addition to Muscat Governorate. Almost 300 entries were received including that of women and children and took almost three full days to complete the tournament. The awarding and closing ceremony were held right after the final, making a perfect end of the ISC badminton championship. The function observed one minute silent prayer in memory of hockey legend Syed Naqvi. The closing ceremony witnessed a couple of cultural performances from Kerala and Malayalam Wings.


Sports Secretary Saji Abraham thanked all the officials, tournament committee, staff, coach and parents for their support and dedication in conducting the tournament successfully. ISC chairman Dr Sathish Nambiar while addressing the gathering emphasised the importance of such events which will help talented shuttlers to showcase their skills in such a large platform.


He appreciated the efforts of sports committee and asked them to organise such sports events on regular basis to channelise youth energy in the right perspective.


Philip Koshy, General Manager of Modern Exchange was the guest of honour and the trophies were distributed to the winners. Karanjeet Singh Matharoo, vice-chairman, Babu Rajendran, general secretary, Suhail Khan, Entertainment Secretary, were also present during the ceremony.
