A Mark Rothko portray offered for $82.5 million at public sale on Monday, the second-highest value for a piece by the late summary artist.
Titled, “No.7,” the 95 in (241 cm) excessive canvas painted in 1951 in bands of inexperienced, crimson and lavender, had been anticipated to promote for $70 million to $90 million at Sotheby’s in New York.
