A recent survey on Oman’s ICT demographics initiated by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology showed that more than 95 per cent of the Sultanate’s population has access to internet, mobile phones, computers, smart devices, social media and content. This data is not just illustrative of the ICT growth potential of the nation, but also puts in perspective Omantel’s contributions and imminent role in enabling and supporting Oman’s long-term ICT vision and roadmap.
A distinct growth in fixed and mobile internet market will ride on the significant evolution and momentum resulting from the digitization of technologies. High-speed internet connectivity has opened up new ways and creative avenues of working, learning and living. The telecommunications landscape has now become significantly more data driven. This has helped in developing diverse opportunities across industries, allowing them to leverage the enormous benefits of ICT and in turn accelerate national growth.
Commenting on this, Eng Baha al Lawati (pictured), Vice President of Enterprise Business at Omantel said, “The ICT market within Oman and across GCC has been witnessing a massive boost in demand and every sector is seeking unique and differentiated technical solutions – to keep pace with fast changing and constantly evolving customer requirements. Omantel has added in excess of 100 large enterprise clients, which required complex bespoke ICT solutions and best in class technology enablement and support. Based on our service delivery and customer management experience, we are confident that the size and scale of our ICT business will keep growing exponentially.
Omantel is actively engaged in deploying several large projects for Ministries, Corporates and Smart Cities covering the wide range of its cloud services portfolio across Data Centre services, Software as a Service, Cyber Security, Managed services, Unified Communications, IoT and several hybrid platform solutions.
