Oman’s national Olympic player, Al Azher bin Hamza al Balushi, will have a professional development footballing experience program at Spain’s Sant Andreu club.

The announcement was made in the press meet on Thursday at Seeb Stadium in presence of Naseem Kamil, Director of Spain Academy, Abdullah al Balushi, Sports Business Company and Oman Football Association (OFA) representatives.

Al Azher, who played for Al Shabab and currently in Seeb, will spend six months in Spain for new footballing experience.

“I did not expect such opportunity. The selection came through my attendance with the Olympic Football team in Turkey camp. Naseem Kamil from Spain Academy was present for many days of the abroad camp. Then, he introduced me to Sant Andreu club briefly. Later on, the Academy informed my father officially on my selection. It was a dream to play in Spain and I am very pleased that is accomplished,” he said.

Commenting on the expected outcomes form this experience, Al Azher responded:” I decided to go for this great opportunity with an aim to gain more footballing experience and developing my technical abilities and capabilities. Sant Andreu club is very close to Barcelona club. I am confident this experience will remain in my sporting football and I will do the best to accomplish all the desired outcomes to benefit my national football team,” he ended.

Naseem Kamil, Director of Spain Academy, affirmed that attendance of Oman’s player Al Azher al Balushi in Spain will reflect positively for Oman’s football. “The full focus and player’s technical skills were the top two factors behind his selection for this footballing experience program in Spain,” he said.

Al Azher al Balushi, 19 years old, began his footballing career in Al Shabab club and then moved to Seeb. He is playing in the Olympic national football team as key players of the team.
