The Association for Children with Disabilities signed an agreement with Mitsui E &P Middle East to provide physio and occupational therapy equipment and devices for the Association’s centers in various regions of the Sultanate of Oman.
The children have started returning to the Association in September after the lockdown and closure due to the pandemic.
Najeeb al Harthy, Board Member, General Manager and CEO of Mitsui E & P Middle East, stressed the company’s keenness to activate partnership and cooperation between the organisation and non-profit institutions.
Speaking to Observer when asked when would the agreement be effective, he said, “It is effective immediately. We saw the need for specific equipment, and we felt we could do the needful for the Association.
It serves aspects of sustainable development as well as upgrading of community services and projects of public interest in the country.”
He added that this initiative comes from the scope of the company’s endeavour to expand the umbrella of its social responsibility permanently and continuously to include various aspects related to society.
HH Sayyida Hujaija bint Jaifer al Said, Chairperson of the Association for Children with Disabilities, said, “The children have had a tough time with Covid 19 and its impact during the whole of last year. I am excited to welcome the children to this important signing ceremony to help the children. We will now be able to purchase a lot of equipment for physiotherapy, occupational therapy and special need therapy.”
According to her, as of now, there are 350 students all around the country.
“At present, due to the Covid-19 measures, we cannot have a full classroom as it is now one to one. That is why the number is smaller now. Here we have 45 children, and the schedules are fully booked, and we have more children on the waiting list,” she noted.
