Education ministry holds training programme

The Ministry of Education conducted a training programme on the individual performance measurement and institutional proficiency system, entitled: 'Building individual plans according to the OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) methodology at the ministry’s headquarters recently.


The training programme targeted the sub-team for the implementation of the individual performance measurement system and institutional proficiency in a number of Directorates-General at the ministry's general office, such as the Directorate-General of Financial Affairs, The Specialised Institute for Vocational Training for Teachers, and the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuing Education.


The programme witnessed a remarkable interaction from the participants, through purposeful discussion and active participation, which contributes to building conscious thought about this system, at the ministry’s general office.


The implementation of this programme comes from the premise of preparing for the implementation of the system of measuring individual performance and institutional proficiency in the ministry. Therefore, the ministry continues the comprehensive awareness-raising operations of the system for all directorates, departments and divisions, through the implementation of a number of training programmes for team members nominated from all directorates in the ministry.


This programme is dedicated to being an awareness programme on the theoretical frameworks of the new system for measuring individual performance and institutional proficiency through the OKRs methodology.


On the implementation of this training programme, Saleh al Amiri, Head of the Coordination and Follow-up Department at the Directorate-General of Financial Affairs, and a member of the organising team for this training programme, said: “This project is one of the enablers of Oman’s Vision 2040. The ministry is committed to continuing holding programmes and supportive meetings to educate employees about the importance of this project, which aims to enhance productivity, improve performance, pay attention to the human resource, and link employee’s job performance with objectives of the institution.”


The training programme included the presentation of two papers. Badria al Ramadani, an educational researcher at the Specialised Institute for Vocational Training for Teachers, presented the first paper, in which she addressed the theoretical framework of the individual performance measurement system and institutional competence. Samia al Wahaibi, Director of System Application at the Institute of Public Administration, presented the second paper, which was on 'How to build an individual plan according to the OKRs methodology'.


The participants valued the efforts made to raise awareness about the system. The team also recommended to the trainees to impart knowledge about the system to their divisions and to send a report on the awareness-raising process, in order to ensure the readiness of the workers when implementing the system and enabling them to fill out the performance report related to the employee's individual plans in the relevant record.
