The frankincense-themed Oman Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai has received over 250,000 visitors since the start of the event on October 1.

The Omani delegation has been hosting special events to mark the occasions, such as Women’s Day or Youth Day.

On October 26, a quartet ensemble of four female Omani musicians, each playing a different instrument, presented three 30-minute performances of traditional Arabic music.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion have made elaborate efforts to promote the Sultanate of Oman as a prime destination for tourism.

“It is equally important that the expo should be able to bring tangible benefits to the country both in the short and long term through some deals or agreements,” a source associated with the expo and the pavilion said.

The first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, which welcomed over 400,00 visitors in the first ten days, is expected to cross the one million mark in the coming days.

“Expo 2020 Dubai’s opening week has undoubtedly been a success. The numbers we are seeing are very encouraging and demonstrate the global desire for people to reconnect with each other and to imagine a better future,” the official sources said.

The figures exclude representatives, delegations, guests of international participants, partners, other stakeholders and Expo staff.

Expo 2020 Dubai runs until March 31, 2022, with 200 pavilions in total for visitors to explore as well as the attractions at each location. There are multiple daily events, with panel discussions and cultural performances.

Expo 2020’s Urban and Rural Development Week explores resilient and sustainable habitats.

The Week will focus on how population growth continues to challenge the world’s existing cities and communities.

By 2050, more than 70 per cent of the world’s population is forecast to live in cities, with three billion estimated to dwell in informal settlements. Urban and Rural Development Week will explore our communities as building blocks of prosperity and how we can make our future habitats sustainable.
