Muscat, Oct 26

Salalah giants, Dhofar, was held to a goalless draw by Oman club on Tuesday at Seeb Stadium in third week matches of 2021/2022 Omantel League.

The runner up of the last season missed the chance to pick up full points from three matches as they registered two successive victories against Muscat and Nizwa in the previous rounds. With the draw, Dhofar bagged seven points while Oman recorded their first point in the league this season after two defeats from Bahla and Al Nasr.

Defending champion, Seeb, broke successive wins of Al Nahdha as they edged the latter 2-0 on Monday at Seeb Stadium.

Marwan Taeeb and Abulaziz al Maqbali netted the winners. The triumph took Seeb to the seventh point in Omantel League while the Al Buraimi representative were stuck in their previous credit at six points after the third-round matches that concluded on Tuesday.

It was the second successive win for Seeb in the league after edging Muscat 3-0 in the previous week while Al Nahdha registered strong start in the top-tier league with two wins against Al Musannah (3-1) and Saham (4-0). However, the dreams blocked to extend the lead in the top as they defeated by Seeb.

The northern Al Batinah derby between Sohar and Saham ended for the former by 2-1 on Monday at Sohar Sports Complex. Sohar’s Abdullah Kofi was the star of the match as he scored both goals for the team while Rashed Somaila reduced the gap for Saham in the dying minutes.

The victory raised Sohar’s kitty to fourth point and returned the team to the winning ways after they suffered to a 3-1 loss from Al Musannah while Saham received their second successive defeats in the league after the first defeat from Al Nahdha and snatched one point from a draw against Seeb in the opening round.

Nizwa and Muscat failed to taste their first win in the season as the match ended in a goalless draw on Monday at Nizwa Sports Complex.

Both teams are positioned in the bottom of the order as they have only one point. Nizwa suffered two defeats from Dhofar and Al Nasr in the previous weeks.

The capital city club began the league on a losing note from Dhofar and the second defeat from Seeb.
