The Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) has warned its subscribers of the dangers of the wrong use of electric water heaters, especially during the winter.

The company said that hot water should not be used until the power is cut off from the heater, to avoid the possibility any direct contact with the electricity as a result of improper installation or due to the expired life span of the heater.

The company said that connections or installations should be made with the help of a licensed electrician.

MEDC advisory water heater-related mishaps are reportedly mostly in winter as temperatures drop in the country.
