Close on the heels of the opening of schools, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has said visits by the officials would be conducted at various schools, which are working either in hybrid or classroom modes.

The visits are planned by a joint working group comprising the Department of School and University Health at the MoH, the Directorate General of Nursing Affairs, and the Ministry of Education’s Guidance and Awareness department.

The dedicated inspectors from these departments will carry out visits to the schools and colleges to ensure that they strictly adhere to the Covid-19 protocol and are constantly monitoring the children against violation of Covid rules.

They will inspect the classrooms, furniture, school clinic, environment, school cafeteria, and check personal hygiene. A supervision visit form has been prepared for all groups that covers all areas, health and guidance services and is aimed at creating health awareness.

“This initiative of visiting the educational institutions is part of the tasks of the working group formed within the framework of continuous cooperation between the MoH and MoE,” a statement from the MoH said.

The teams conducting field visits to schools to follow up on the implementation of the precautionary measures in schools will also identify the key needs and challenges facing the implementation of school health services.

“Since students have been allowed to return to the schools, the Supreme Committee entrusted with studying scopes for a mechanism to handle developments resulting from Covid-19 pandemic, has been extra vigilant and has instructed to observe the schools and other institutions against any violation of Covid rules,” an official from the MoH added.
