Information minister receives IFJ secretary general

Muscat: Dr Abdullah Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information received in his office here on Monday Anthony Bellanger, Secretary General of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and Al Hashimi Al Nuwairah, Advisor of the IFJ.


The meeting reviewed aspects of cooperation between the Ministry of Information and the IFJ in various areas.


Al Harrasi underscored the importance of training and rehabilitating the journalists, which has a positive impact on their professional level and the important roles they carry out. The Minister of Information also touched on the Omani Journalists Association's (OJA) host of the General Assembly's upcoming meetings of the IFJ's 31st Congress, scheduled to be held in the Sultanate of Oman in 2022.


He affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman will provide all facilities that would contribute in the success of the meetings.


On his turn, IFJ Secretary General expressed his delight to visit the Sultanate and closely view the development witnessed in the media field.


He commended the OJA roles at the local and international levels, which crowned the OJA with the unanimous approval of all IFJ members to host the 31st Congress meetings. The step reflects the progress reached by the Omani media.


The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry of Information and the OJA. --- ONA
