Occupancy rates in hotels improve this year

Muscat: The total number of hotel guests in three to five stars in the Sultanate until the end of September was 834,255, compared to 604,940 guests registered during the same period in 2020, registering an increase of 37.9 percent, according to statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


The hotel revenues until the end of September amounted to RO59,273,000, a decrease of 11.7 percent compared 67, 136,000 during the same period in 2020.


The occupancy rate improved to 35 percent this year compared to 27.3 percent in 2020.


As per the statistics, the number of Omanis guests increased by 115.8 percent to 619,194 from 286,867 in the same period last year, followed by


Asian guests - 98,752 guests (55,040 in 2020), Arab guests from non-Gulf countries - 32,151, European guests - 29,732, Americas - 13,259, GCC nationals - 13,452, Oceania - 3,916, Africa - 2,868, and other nationalities - 20,933.
