Al Bashaer lift OBA League title for first time

Al Bashaer club were crowned as champions of 2020-21 Oman Basketball League for the first time after beating Nizwa 74-65 on Monday at the indoor hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.


Al Dhakhiliyah representatives broke Nizwa domination in the basketball titles. Al Bashaer club registered with the Oman Basketball Association (OBA) in the 2020-21 season.


The team managed to clinch the historic title despite postponement of the league during the last period due to the circumstances of the Covid-19 outbreak and keep the momentum high to snatch the league shield.


Dr Marwan al Juma was the chief guest in presence of Eng Khalfan Saleh al Naabi, Chairman of OBA, and other top dignitaries.


The chief guest delivered the awards the gold medals and shield to Al Bashaer club team members while Nizwa club handed the silver medals. Ahli Sidab took the third-place award.


Said al Saadi from Al Bashaer club received the top-scorer award, while Mahmood al Souli from Al Bashaer club was named as the most valuable player of the league. Osama al Riyami from Nizwa club won the award for best assists and grabbed the top-three scorer prize.
