WTT Youth Contender Muscat concludes

The WTT Youth Contender Muscat concluded yesterday after some great table tennis action on display.


Oman national table tennis girls team made their debut at the 2021 WTT Youth Contender Muscat. Al Hoor al Jassasi, Noor al Farsi and Retaj al Abri were the representatives of the Sultanate’s TT team.


Noor began the campaign at U-13 girls singles with a 3-0 loss against Indian paddler Hansini Rajan in the first group.


She suffered the second successive loss from Uzbekistan’s Diyora Toshpulatova 3-0. Oman’s second paddler Retaj al Abri was defeated by Uzbekistan’s Asel Erkebeva 3-0 in the second group.


Al Abri suffered another 3-0 loss from Lebanon paddler Bissan Chiri. Al Hoor al Jassasi was the third representative of Oman team in the event and she suffered two losses from Uzbekistan’s Markhabo 3-0 and Lakshita Marang with the same result as part of group two matches.


At U-13 girls’ singles, Indian’s Hansini, Zaza from Syria, Iran’s Setayesh Iloukhani and Uzbekistan’s Asel Erkebaeva advanced to the semis round. Hansini beat Arujan from Uzbekistan 3-0 while Syrian Zaza edged Lebanon’s Bissan 3-0. Setayesh defeated Diyora (Uzbekistan) 3-0 while Asel beat Egyptian paddler 3-2.


At U-13 girls’ singles category, Indian paddlers were dominated as three paddlers progressed into semifinal round including: Deepak Yashaswini, SanjakKumar and Suhana Saini. Yashaswini managed to win against India’s Lakshita 3-0 while SanjakKumar beat her team-mate Anargya 3-0. Suhana advanced to the semis after beating her team-mate Priya Pritha 3-1 while Rajesh Sayali edged Uzbekistan’s Markhabo Magdieva 3-1.


On Friday, the 2021 WTT Youth Contender Muscat concluded under auspices of HH Sayyied Fahar bin Fatik al Said in presence of Abdullah Bamakhalif, Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA) chairman and top dignitaries. As many as 29 girls paddlers took part at the girls competition of 2021 WTT Youth Contender Muscat.
