Omantel has acknowledged that Cyclone Shaheen, which struck the Sultanate during October 3 – 4, 2021, damaged some of its network sites in Muscat, Al Batinah North and South and Al Dhahirah Governorates.
In a filing to the Capital Market Authority (CMA), the majority state-owned operator said it was currently assessing the extent of the damage caused by the cyclone. It is also engaged in restoring services in areas impacted by the storm, the company noted.
“We would like to inform that all our equipment and sites are fully covered by insurance and it is expected that any losses arising out of this will be reimbursed by the insurance company subject to policy conditions. Hence, we do not expect to incur any material loss,” the statement added.
