Muscat: Bangladesh posted a comfortable 60-run win over Oman A team in the warm-up match as part of the T20 World Cup at Al Amerat Grounds on Friday.

Oman A team won the toss and elected to field in the day-night match.

Mohammed Naim made 63 from 53 (retired hurt) while fellow opener Liton Das made 53 in 33 balls.

Nurul Hasan hit 49 from 15 balls to power the team to a formidable total of 207-4 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Oman ended up at 147 for nine in the stipulated 20 overs.

Shoaib Khan scored 43 while Rafiullah made a quickfire 31.

Playing their first match at Amerat, a solid 102-run opening partnership made it feel like Bangladesh were cruising to a mammoth total but Oman put the brakes on scoring after spinner Samay Shrivastava had prolific opener Das caught and bowled in the 12th over.

Bangladesh lost another three wickets while adding 22 runs more and were 124-4 in the 15th over.

Soumya Sarkar made eight from eight balls and was caught by Obaidullah in the bowling of Shrivastava.

Mushfiqur Rahim was out for golden duck after wicketkeeper Rauf Attaullah caught him giving first wicket for Oman A captain Aamir Kaleem.

Kaleem struck again in the same over when Afif Hussain hit out to Khurram Navaz.

The 17th over by Aamir fetched 15 runs for Bangladesh as Nurul Hassan hit two sixes in the last two balls.

Rafiullah did well to concede eight runs in the 18th over, but Nurul Hassan slammed three sixes in the 19th over by Obaidullah as the Oman under-19 bowler gave away 21 runs.

Rafiullah’s last over went even further with Shamim Hossain and Nurul dealing with sixes to collect 25 runs and Bangladesh total reaching 207-4.

OPENING JOLTS

In Oman innings, Bangladesh struck in the first over itself when Akshay Patel was out for nought when he was caught by Afif Hussain off the bowling of Mehdi Hasan.

Prithvikumar Macchi got out for one in the second over as Oman slumped to 2 for 10 in the second over.

Then on, Oman lost wickets in regular intervals as Khalid Kail (7), Kaleem (7) and Khurram Nawaz (11) failed to make any impact.

A well set Shoaib Khan was run out at the wicketkeeper’s end after setting out for a needless run as Oman were 75-5 in the 14th over.

Next Khurram Nawaz was bowled by Mohammad Saifuddin for 11 and Oman fell to 83-6.

In the final stages, Mehran Khan (19 from 10 balls), Rauf Attaullah (19 from 14 balls) and Rafiullah (31 from 14 balls) tried their best but the target was beyond their reach.

After 19 overs, Oman were 146 for 8 wickets, needing 62 runs from six balls.

In the last over, the first five balls yielded only one run as Mohammed Saifuddin cleaned up Rafiullah to end the Oman innings.
