Oman’s Dr Shihab al Din Ahmed al Riyami is leading the technical sub-committee at the 2021 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship which is being held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from October 8 to 15.
Ahmed has been selected to be in-charge of the technical delegation due to his expertise in volleyball as former player, coach and certified lecturer. Besides technical committee, there is referee delegates, medical committee and VIS delegation. All the committees and delegations have different duties and roles during the Asian event.
The FIVB international coach instructor is implementing different duties and roles at the technical delegation including his attendance in the joint meeting which presents all the teams and AVC control committee and all delegations for introducing the regulation panel of the championship.
Also, he is in-charge of performing the initial query meeting for all technical crews of participating teams in championship and checking their list and passports. Moreover, he is supervising all the official games and evaluating the technical aspects during the competition.
Shihab is monitoring the technical crews and teams in games and raising the respite after game and presents the technical reports daily. Besides that, he will submit the general report of championship which includes technical level and teams performance during the tournaments.
Commenting on his effective participation at the top Asian volleyball event, he said: “ This is fourth mission I have been attended as technical committee head and member since 2012. I had different roles in the previous edition of the Asian event including as former coaching committee secretary in Dubai , Bangkok , Iran and Bangkok in 2021. These events enhanced my experience and management skills for organising international events or competitions."
"I had gained new learning lessons including modern methods in conducting high level of sports events and especially in volleyball. The main benefits of attending these kind of events is increasing the experience and knowledge for conducting any international sports events and giving me high potential for participating in FIVB events in future as technical delegation,” he concluded.
Dr Shihab al Din al Riyami is certified FIVB lecturer and had delivered a FIVB coaching programme in Saudi Arabia in June. He had attended and presented different technical lectures in several championships and events.
