Oman to host ITTF high performance camp, WTT event

Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA) will kick off the training sessions of 2021 ITTF High performance camp for girls on Thursday at the main indoor hall at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.


The four-days of world class camp event will feature participation of the top girls players from different parts of the world. The national team participants will be represented by Al Hoor al Jasasi, Noor al Farsi and Retaj al Abri.


The camp will be monitored by specialised and certified coaches and trainers from ITTF. The sessions will be delivered to the participants by them. The camp will act as opportunity for the national players to gear up ahead of the 2021 WTT Youth Contender Muscat which will start from Sunday.


OTTA previously hosted the ITTF challenge and hopes week in Salalah in 2019 while the first camp for West Asia was hosted in Muscat in 2017.


On the other hand, OTTA completed all the technical and logistics preparations to organise 2021 WTT Youth Contender Muscat from October 10 to 15. The event will witness participation of many players from different parts of the world. The five days event will feature different competition categories including U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17, and U-19. The technical meeting and the official draw will take place on Saturday.


Sajad Mohammed Baqir, Event Director, said that hosting of the ITTF High performance camp and WTT Youth Contender in Muscat are parts of the OTTA keen to host top international events.


“We are looking forward that our national players will get the required and desired technical experience from the top ranking players. Hosting of the international events will generate different technical, economical and promotional outcomes for the Sultanate’s economy. The Sultanate are ready to host the players from different part of the world in Muscat” he ended.


Oman national team squad featured the following players: Laith al Balushi, Eyad al Jassasi, Turki al Abri, Badar al Farsi, Omar al Awadi, Mohammed al Jassasi, Ali al Ghafri, Moyad al Mutawa, Loqman al Farsi, Ayman al Shehi, Mohammed al Moutawa, Badar al Jassasi, Abdulrahman al Zaabi, Mashal al Shehi, Al Hoor al JAssasi, Noor al Farsi and Retaj al Abri.
