Muscat: National Committee for Emergency Management on Saturday said the Muttrah Corniche road has been closed for traffic due to rising sea level as cyclone Shaheen gets closer to the shores of the Sultanate.

The committee urged motorists to take other alternative safe routes.

The committee also has decided to close Jabal Bausher - Al-Amerat road and Al Shati Street road(Al Qurum).

Sea condition is expected to be very rough over the coastal areas between South Al-Sharqiya to Musandam Governorates with maximum wave height ranging between 8 and 12 meters. In addition storm surge might cause seawater inundation over low-level coastal areas. The sea state will be moderate to rough along the rest of Omani coasts with a maximum wave height between 2 to 3meters.
