Al Hazm Castle restoration work 95 % complete

Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Culture (MHC) on Wednesday announced that the maintenance and restoration work of Al Hazm Castle in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq reached to 95 per cent.


Amjad bin Ahmed al Makhldi, Director of the Department of Restoration and Maintenance at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said in a statement to the Oman News Agency that the project comes within the framework of the ministry's efforts to preserve the archaeological and historical monuments in the governorates and wilayats of the Sultanate, including castles, forts and old houses.


He added that the project includes treating the deep cracks that appeared in the external facades and extended towards the internal ceilings of the castle, restoring other damaged structural parts, rebuilding ceilings, maintaining floors and the external fence, treating electrical works, restoring the mosque and adding toilets.


MHC continues to restore and maintain castles, forts that are distinguished by architectural diversity.
