Muscat: The total number of vehicles registered in the Sultanate till the end of August 2021 increased by 0.12% to reach 1,544,707 compared to 1,542,860 till the end of last July 2021, showed data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Vehicles with private registration accounted for 79.3% of the total number of registered vehicles, reaching 1,224,408 vehicles. As for vehicles with commercial registration, the number reached 232,373 vehicles or 15% while the number of taxis was 28,883 or 1.9%. Rental vehicles were 22,770 vehicles or 1.5% of the total vehicles registered until the end of August 2021.
The number of government vehicles reached 12,333 while the number of vehicles with temporary registration (temporary inspection, export and import) was 9,892. The number of registered motorbikes was 6,135 and the driving tutoring vehicles reached 5,807. The agricultural tractors reached 1,305 and the number of diplomatic vehicles reached 801.
