Muscat: The board of directors of Oman Historical Association (OHA) held its first meeting today under the chairmanship of Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.
The meeting discussed its programme of activities, the issuance of scholarly publications and the accomplishments made over the past years, since the inception of the OHA. The OHA has a mandate to complement the role of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in a manner that promotes the country's history and highlights significant historical events.
Omani history is closely linked to the unity of society, its identity, its heritage and its political experience. This role requires effective utilization of history as a channel for communication with the global community and scholarly associations concerned.
