Rains predicted in parts of Oman

Parts of Oman experienced rain due to local clouds in Al Hajar as well as advectice clouds.


The chance for convective clouds, isolated rain and thundershowers could continue to Monday over Al Hajar Mountains towards afternoon.


“There is a chance of medium and high clouds due to advection in the northern parts of Oman bringing in isolated rain in Al Dhahira, during the day,” said the weather forecaster at Oman Met Office, Public Authority of Civil Aviation.


Rains are expected to originate from the middle region of Al Hajar mountains and extend towards the west.


Along with convective clouds, advection is to continue on Monday as well.


“In the Southern part of Oman, it is going to be partly cloudy skies along the coastal line and there could be a chance for drizzle with sea being rough to moderate with a maximum of three meters,” she said.


Muscat is not expected to receive rain, although Al Amerat due to the mountains could have a chance of experiencing the rains from the local cloud formation.


There are also chances of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog patches along the coastal areas of the Arabian and Oman Sea.


According to the general weather forecast, along the coastal area of Oman Sea, winds will be northeasterly light to moderate during day becoming variable light at night and southerly to southwesterly moderate to fresh along Arabian Sea coast, while over the rest of the Sultanate it will be southeasterly light to moderate occasionally fresh over Dhofar governorate.


Maximum temperature recorded was 42 degrees Celsius experienced in Mudheibi, Buraimi, Ibra and Adam; while lowest temperature was recorded in Jabal Shams with a high of 26 degrees Celsius and a low of 20 degrees Celsius.
