Muscat: The Sultanate won second place in the 13th round of Arab Music and Song Contest held in Tunisia.

The competition is organized by the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU). The winning performance codenamed Hulum-Tareeq (or "A Road’s Dream”) was the product of collaboration of composers Hisham Nassir Al Sqari and Asaad Al Raisi and singer Nawal Al Busaidi.

Yousef Humaid Al Yousfi, Director-General of Radio Sultanate of Oman, said in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that Oman Radio’s winning a top place in the contest reflects the keen efforts exerted by the Ministry of Information’s personnel in developing the talents of the young generation.

The contest aims to encourage the amelioration of musical and song culture and the dissemination of original orchestral arts. The Arab Music and Song Contest is organized every two years by ASBU, which picks up the top performers (two signers, two music tracks) as the winners of each round.
