MUSCAT, Sept 5
The land size of Samayil Industrial City is set to expand by a further 5 million sq metres, effectively making it the third largest industrial city in the Sultanate after Suhar and Sur, according to the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn).
Eng Dawood al Hadabi, Director General of Samayil Industrial City, said the announcement follows provisional approval by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to sanction more land for the manufacturing hub – a move that will raise the City’s total land area to 12.8 million square metres. The expansion will also create 600 additional plots, he stated.
Total investment in Samayil Industrial City has reached RO 88 million. During the first half of this year, around 10 projects worth over RO 5 million were brought into operation.
Later this year, the industrial city will bring into operation a new administration and facilities building. Set up in cooperation with the private sector at a cost of around RO 4.5 million, the building offers 18,000 sq metres of area distributed across 8 floors.
It offers various services for the workforce in Samayil Industrial City and neighbouring areas, with space dedicated to public and private bodies, commercial stores, banks, international cafes and restaurants, telecom companies, among other services.
