MUSCAT: A delegation of Indian School Bausher visited former India and Oman hockey coach SAS Naqvi's sports museum to mark the Dhyan Chand Day -- the National Sports Day of India.

A delegation of Indian School Bausher led by Principal Gajendera Varathan and including Dr Chandan Simha, Sanjeev Sharma, Dr Ranjeet, Samar Bose and Biju Thomas was the special guest as an athlete during the simple function at the Naqvi museum on August 29.

Naqvi, who had close ties with Indian hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand, appreciated the Indian School Bausher management for marking the day.

The delegation honored Naqvi for his contribution to promote Indo-Oman sports relations.

The chief guest and the members of the delegation presented a shawl and a memento to the veteran hockey personality.

Naqvi, 89, is the lone survivor from the 1947 golden era of India hockey. He had the rare distinction to play along with Dhyan Chand, who was the captain of 1936 Berlin Olympic Indian team, Kishan Lal, captain of 1948 Olympics in London, and KD Singh Babu, captain Of 1952 Olympics in Helsinki.
