Mandatory 'vaccination' rule not applicable to air passengers

Entry to all airports in the Sultanate will be restricted to vaccinated people only starting from September 1, Oman Airports said on Monday.

“Vaccination” is mandatory to access the airport premises but does not apply to travelers. The requirements for travelers will be limited to the travel requirements of your destination," it added.

The decision comes after the Supreme Committee imposed mandatory vaccination for both citizens and residents to enter public places including government offices, shops, malls, and restaurants. It is part of the measures to tamp down the spread of coronavirus and encourage people to take the vaccination.

“Further to the instructions provided by the Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with the developments of Covid-19 and our emphasis on providing a safe environment for all, we would like to report that the access to Omani Airports will be restricted only to the vaccinated personnel. This decision shall be effective from Wednesday 1st September 2021, and will include all Oman Airport users and. strategic stakeholders,” Oman Airports said.

“Please follow the guidance and show upon arrival to all Oman Airport entrances the vaccination electronic certificate available on Tarassud+ application,” it said.

The airport operator requested travelers to check the latest Covid-19 testing requirements for the destination, do online check-in if possible to avoid face-to-face contact at the airport. Travelers should arrive at the airport at least four hours before the official time of departure.

Avoid carrying your phone or other items in your hands when going through the check-in process and security checkpoints. Visitors are not allowed at the terminal premises, except for individuals accompanying passengers with special needs (one accompanying individual only).
