The Ghaili-type Al-Fath Falaj in the Wilayat of Dhank in Al Dhahirah Governorate, located 30 km away from the centre of the wilayat, is one of Oman's most enduring water irrigation systems that continues to bless farms in the area with water.

The falaj which main water source is Wadi al Fath usually increases in water size when heavy rains lash the area and when other wadis overflow and also feed the Falaj. The water is collected in a cistern and then runs up to one and a half kilometres to irrigate the farms particularly those in Al Fath farms.

The falaj is one of the water sources that the people depend on for seasonal agriculture, such as the cultivation of onions, garlic, vegetables, tomatoes, legumes, wheat, barley and corn, in addition to palm trees, lemons, grapes, bananas, pomegranates and some other trees for which the wilayat is famous.

The people and farm owners in the area are keen to pay attention to agriculture to take advantage of the agricultural seasons to achieve a degree of sufficiency from these varieties, preserving the old methods of agriculture that depend on organic fertilizers.

The plantations, palm trees and other agricultural trees irrigated by Falaj Al Fath between the high mountains surrounding the place, form a beautiful natural scene.
